Bin Laden nem volt CIA ügynök, nem dolgozott velük

Szegény bin Ladent túlmitizálták egy kicsit az elmúlt tíz évben. A szegény újságírók legnagyobb bűne vele kapcsolatban, hogy valahogy átvették ezt a baromságot az összeesküvés elméletekből. Természetesen én sem állíthatom 100 százalékos biztonsággal, hogy nem volt kapcsolatban, de az eddig előásott bizonyítékok, a tudományos kutatás az előbbi véleményen van.

Úgy látom már 2008-ban írtam erről, ugyanezt bizonygatva, csak más források alapján.

Tegnap előtt olvastam Thomas Hegghammer egyik tanulmányát The Rise of Muslim Foreign Fighters címmel. Arról szól, hogy az, hogy az arab afgánok megjelentek Pakisztánban az 1980-as évek elején, hogy önkéntesként harcoljanak az afgánok oldalán, szóval hogy ez mennyire egy új dolog volt. Mennyire nem volt benne a megelőző korok közbeszédében, szokásaiban.

Az arab-afgánok voltak azok, akik közé bin Laden is tartozott.

A tanulmány 60 oldal, kb ez az egyik oka, hogy még mindig általános vélemény bin Laden és a CIA kapcsolata, mert az ilyen anyagokat senkinek sincs türelme végigolvasni. És a Blikk sem ír róla. Képzeljük el a szalagcímet: Norvég kutató cáfolja a bin Laden-CIA kapcsolatot!

Second, I consider the mobilization to 1980s Afghanistan as private. The
foreign ªghters enjoyed tacit, but not active, state support. The distinction
matters greatly, because the latter is a sufªcient cause of the mobilization,
whereas the former is at most a necessary one. The view of the 1980s Arab
Afghans as actively state supported is a widespread misconception that has
given rise to the popular “blowback theory,” according to which the Arab
Afghans (and by extension al-Qaida) were a U.S.-Saudi creation that later
turned against its patrons.25 The misunderstanding stems from a conºation of
Afghan mujahideen, on the one hand, and foreign ªghters, on the other; it is
assumed that because states armed the Afghans, they also armed the Arabs.26
The United States and Saudi Arabia did provide considerable ªnancial, logistical,
and military support to the Afghan mujahideen.27 There is no evidence,
however, of systematic and direct state support for the Arab Afghans.28 Arab
Gulf states and Western governments acquiesced to foreign ªghter recruitment,
but they did not organize it or pay for it. The foreign ªghters were
funded by private donors and the nongovernmental Islamic charitable sector.

Hegghammer nem az egyetlen aki ezt állítja, és akinek több évnyi, évtizednyi kutatás után ez a véleménye.

In fact, there are very few things that bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri and the U.S. government agree on. They all agree that they didn't have a relationship in the 1980s. And they wouldn't have needed to. Bin Laden had his own money, he was anti-American and he was operating secretly and independently. The real story here is the CIA did not understand who Osama was until 1996, when they set up a unit to really start tracking him.[18]
