Dél-Afganisztán update

Az elmúlt napok eseményeinek csúcsa mindenképpen az ötletes és jól kivitelezett börtönynyitás volt Kandahár városban a Sarposa börtön főbejáratát egy vontatós tartály kamionnal robbantották fel, a hátsó kaput meg egy gyalogos öngyilkos merénylő. Ezt követően motorosan bezúdultak a börtönbe a tálibok és majd mind az 1100 rabot kiengedték - közük a kb 400 mid level tálib parancsnokot.

Szerdai hír szerint a mozgalom nem állt le, a hét elején lerohanták Arghandab, amely Kandahár mellett van, pro-kormánypárti vezetés alatt áll, amely már többször is megélt ilyen alakalmi benyomulást. A ANA mozgósít, a kanadai hadsereg mozgósít, a tálibok a védelemre rendezkednek be, hidakat robbantanak stb.

Zabul tartományról ritkán hallani, bár mostanság azt olvastam, hogy brit ejtőernyősök légideszanttal megjelentek valami tálib fellegvárban és megzavarták az ellenség utánpótlását. The British believe he taxed his own villagers more than a ton of opium at the end of the poppy harvest. They also suspect his militia of stealing land, money and motorbikes, and beating people who can't pay. Mullah Salam denies the allegations.

"If I see anyone in my militia doing these things I will shoot him," he said, revealing his own brand of Taliban-style justice.
